Counselling
The central pillar of the support that BMSG provides is Breastfeeding Counselling. We offer this through our Volunteer Breastfeeding Counsellors!
Our counsellors are experienced breastfeeding mothers and are trained under the syllabus by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. They provide evidence-based breastfeeding help, while respecting individual differences. Information and support are offered to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers with babies of all ages, in one-to-one and group situations. We also offer assistance and support to concerned family members who contact us to support their spouses/children.
Volunteer Counsellors have been accredited by BMSG following completion of a comprehensive breastfeeding counsellor training program. This program ensures that they are well-trained in breastfeeding practices, in dealing with challenges faced by breastfeeding mother-baby pairs and in counselling skills.
